Transportation Postcards are Collectible
If you collect transportation postcards, you know all about Route 66, but you may not have this postcard yet. It's a long road and a famous route through the nation's midsection all the way from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California. Landmark highway US 66 served as a primary route for westward migration, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and the road supported the economies of the communities through which it passed. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway. So says Wikipedia, which also tells us that the road originated in 1926, and appeared in print when the state of Missouri released its 1926 state highway map with the highway labeled as US 60. Here we see some of the pretty brick houses along the route, these being just outside of St. Louis in a place called Maplewood, Missouri.

If Zazzle should send me a penny or two when someone buys something I have carefully chosen to display on this blog, the price stays the same. The card costs nothing extra. For the reader, my quest to find and post some nice cards you might want adds nothing to the cost.
